Creation of the Association des centres d'accueil du Québec (ACAQ). ACAQ was born as the result of the 1967 fusion of two other provincial associations of care facilities, one for children and the other for adults: the Association provinciale des institutions pour enfants (APIE) and the Association des foyers pour adultes (AFA). Care facilities for the physically impaired are included in this association.
First meeting of the Regroupement des centres de réadaptation pour personnes ayant une déficience physique, a group for rehabilitation centres for people living with a physical impairment.
The ACAQ refuses a proposal to form a commission for the member institutions of the Regroupement des centres de réadaptation pour personnes ayant une déficience physique. These rehabilitation centres then withdraw from the ACAQ and attempt to become part of the Association des hôpitaux du Québec—AHQ (Quebec association of hospitals).
The ACAQ allows rehabilitation centres for the physically impaired to work together under its aegis, through the creation of a commission for physical rehabilitation centres—the Commission des centres de réadaptation en déficience physique (CCRDP).
The CCRDP becomes the Fédération de la réadaptation en déficience physique du Québec. And the ACAQ is transformed into the Confédération québécoise des centres d'hébergement et de réadaptation (CQCHR).
The CQCHR is dissolved and the Fédération enters into a partnership agreement with the AHQ. Each maintains independent decision making but the two organizations agree to work together on the issue of support for rehabilitation programming. The AHQ also handles, for a fee, all horizontal services including legal, financial, workplace health and safety, human resources and communication.
The Fédération officially becomes the AERDPQ and obtains its letter patents.
AERDPQ members reach an agreement stating that the president will henceforth be an elected external board member, to provide greater neutrality to better promote client needs.
Non-renewal of the service agreement with the AHQ (now called the Association québécoise d'établissements de santé et de services sociaux—AQESSS) and end of a new business partnership for horizontal services with the ACJQ. The AERDPQ moves to new headquarters.
Adoption of new governance bylaws for the AERDPQ.
Review of the AERDPQ’s service offering and organizational plan.
